Pilton Bluecoat Academy Case Study
Pilton Bluecoat Academy has been a Rocksteady school for 4 years. Head of School, Mathew Harts, has seen first-hand the impact Rocksteady has had on young learners and says, “Our children have blossomed with self-esteem and confidence.”
The inclusive approach of band lessons has been of real value to the school, as Mathew explains, “It creates a positive and nurturing environment where every child feels valued and capable of success. Playing together as a band has taught them the importance of teamwork, whilst also allowing each individual to shine in their own unique role.”
Teachers have seen even the most reserved children shine and share how “the joy they experience when mastering a new piece of music or performing for their peers is palpable. It brings a great sense of achievement when mastering a new skill or performing in front of friends at the end of term concerts.”
This excitement for music has spread throughout the whole school, instilling a sense of teamwork and collaboration across their community. Mathew says, “Our teachers have embraced the Rocksteady spirit, joining in to perform for the school - a moment that the children absolutely loved. These performances not only showed the children the value of music but also strengthened the bond between staff and pupils, creating lasting memories of joy and connection.”
“Rocksteady brings music to life for our children. The program has enriched our curriculum, fostered a love for music, and helped us build brighter futures, one performance at a time.”
