Frequently asked questions

What do KS2 children need to learn as part of the music curriculum?
KS2 children must learn to play and perform music with increasing confidence using their voices and instruments, developing control, fluency and expression. They're required to improvise and compose their own music, exploring how sounds can be combined and organized. Finally, they must listen to and appraise a wide range of music, understanding how it's created through elements like pitch, rhythm, dynamics and structure, while learning to use musical notation.
Who creates the resources?
All our primary school resources are brought to you by Rocksteady’s Education Team who have decades of experience teaching in primary schools and developing progressive ways to bring music to life for children. Their award-winning child-centred approach to music education balances fun and progression, creating a level playing field for all children of all abilities.
